Does anyone who has lost a child suffer from PTSD?

My son was killed 3 and a half years ago and I still suffer PTSD. Has anyone had luck with this condition?

Answers:

SO

Something that has helped me enormously is a book called “The feeling good handbook”. Its for people with ocd, ptsd, and anxiety.
turn to God. I know it sound corny but it helps!

IT

it is comon to suffer ptsd when you suffer a loss such as this. This is a condition that needs management though. Find a good councellor and try talk therapy… they may recomend puting you on an anti-depressant for a while.

ME

men and women can suffer from this and even women who have had miscarriages and men who’s mates have had an abortion, yes the grief process can b long but u need to be allowed to grieve and not put a time limit on grief, if it is affecting your life u can learn how to cope and deal with your grief through grief counseling, but never feel ashamed for grieving for your love one the lose of a child is one of the worst experiences endured in human life.

I

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I can’t imagine what you must be going through. I haven’t suffered from this condition myself, but I have found some scriptures that you may find very comforting, and that may help you to deal with the situation a little better. I would like to share these truths with you.
First of all, in order to deal with grief it is important to understand what happens to us when we die. The Bible makes it clear that God did not originally intend for humans to die. He created Adam and Eve and placed them in an earthly paradise called Eden, instructing them to have children and extend their paradise earthwide. They would die ONLY if they disobeyed his instructions.
-Genesis 1:28, Genesis 2:15-17
but, because they lacked appreciation for God’s kindness they did end up disobeying him and had to pay the penalty.
At Genesis 3:19, God told Adam “You will return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.” So Adam, upon dying, returned to a state of nonexistence. (He was dust before God created him.) Thus death is the absence of life. Ecclesiastes 9:5 confirms this by saying “The living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead THEY ARE CONSCIOUS OF NOTHING AT ALL.” However, if Adam and Eve are the ones that disobeyed then why do we ALL die? It’s because all of us inherited sin and death from Adam. -Romans 5:12
Some people feel that humans have an immortal soul that survives death, but God’s Word teaches that a soul CAN die. At Ezekiel 18:4 The Bible states “The soul that is sinning-It itself will die.” Nowhere does The Bible teach that man has an immortal soul that survives the body.
After sin and death entered the world God revealed that it was his purpose that the dead be restored to life by means of a resurrection, and the miracles of Jesus, while he was on the earth, support the fact that almighty God not only has the power to resurrect our loved ones but also the desire.
At John 5:28, 29 Jesus stated: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.” Not long after saying that Jesus met a funeral procession coming out of the city of Nain, and moved with pity for a grieving widow, he resurrected her son from death.
-Luke 7:11-17
There is also the account of Jairus’ daughter’s resurrection by Jesus at Luke 8:40-56.
When Jesus friend Lazarus died, Lazarus’s sister Martha expressed her hope saying, “I know he will rise in the resurrection in the last day.” -John 11:11-44.
Jesus did the miraculous works he did in order to prove that these things were possible and that one day he would perform these miracles on a worldwide scale.
These scriptures have really comforted me and given me hope that one day I will be reunited with my grandfather here on earth. I hope they will bring hope and comfort to you in your time of grief.
