Endocervicitis

inflammatory process that occurs on the mucous membrane of the cervix. The neglect of this disease leads to the development of erosion and later deformation of the cervix.

Inside the cervix is the cervical canal that connects the uterus and vagina. Among nulliparous women the opening of the cervical canal has a cross shape, and round in nulliparous. Inside the canal is filled with a mucous membrane, where are the tubular glands that produce mucus which fills the canal. This mucus has a protective function in the composition of mucus include immunoglobulins and the enzyme lysozyme. It shows bactericidal properties. But these enzymes do not always protect the body from infections, microorganisms often fall into the channel and contributes to the development of inflammation, and later the emergence of endocervicitis.

Reasons

The cause of endocervicitis lies in the development of an infectious disease. The infection can cause Candida, staphylococci, and streptococci, gonococci, Escherichia coli, and many others. As a result of abortions, scraping, tearing during childbirth, biopsy, uncontrolled use of contraceptives mucus flows from the cervix, and infection got in there, causing inflammation. However, the microorganisms that cause diseases and sexually transmitted diseases, can cause the development of endocervicitis and normal physiological state of the cervical canal. Also endocervicitis may develop with reduced immunity.

Contamination of the channel may promote menstruation, during which the chemical composition of the vaginal environment changes. This is the most favorable moment for the development of various kinds of microorganisms. Therefore, it is not recommended to sex life during menstruation.

Sometimes accompanied by endocervicitis adnexitis, colpitis, endometritis. Undertreated endocervicitis may cause infection of the uterus or of the appendages and other OMT. So, there can be formed adhesions, violating the normal functioning of organs.Endocervicitis during pregnancy can cause early discharge of amniotic fluid, infection of the embryo and sometimes miscarriage. Possible development of infertility.

Symptoms

Signs endocervicitis manifested in acute and chronic disease trends. The nature of the development of the disease depends upon the pathogen and the immune system of the patient.

Certain symptoms of endocervicitis in the acute form does not exist, they are expressed in the same way as with other gynecological diseases. It can be pain in the lower abdomen in a relaxed state or during sex, itching of the vagina, or purulent discharge. If these symptoms appear, consult a doctor for diagnosis.

Chronic endocervicitis may develop after the acute forms of the disease and have no clinical manifestations. However, this does not mean the cure of disease, therefore, requires the advice of a specialist.

Women with high immunity, the disease can last without symptoms. So, the disease can be detected only when examined by the doctor. When revealing redness and swelling of the mucous membrane of the cervical canal the doctor may suspect the presence of endocervicitis.

Diagnosis

For accurate diagnosis it is necessary to make a smear from the cervical canal, which will give the opportunity to find out the causative agents of infection. Also it is necessary sowing with the definition of sensitivity of microorganisms to antibiotics to the gynecologist could prescribe treatment.

It is known that microorganisms over time develop immunity to antibacterial agents. Therefore, the previously used preparations, perfectly cope with the infection, become useless. Used for diagnosis and colposcopic study, which gives you the opportunity to see the changes of the epithelium and blood vessels of the cervical canal. During illness called endocervicitis, cervical cancer may develop, so you should do a biopsy of the epithelium to exclude this disease. It is also desirable to carry out cytological study of the affected epithelium.

Treatment

When the disease endocervicitis treatment is aimed at eliminating microorganisms that caused the disease. For fighting, use of antibiotics, antiviral drugs or antifungal, sulfonamides. The medication is used orally and topically, but in the latter case it is possible only in the treatment of chronic endocervicitis, as in acute disease the infection could pass on to other reproductive organs of a woman.

If there is a chronic form, doctors recommend physical therapy. Appoint

  • electrophoresis (under the influence of electric current treatment is valid even with small doses of drugs current stimulates tissue regeneration, accelerates the elimination of swelling and inflammation)
  • mud
  • magnetic therapy
  • cryotherapy.

Also in chronic endocervicitis apply local treatment, such as baths and pouring the various solutions of drugs that kill microorganisms.

If there is no improvement and the recovery is not happening, refer to the immunologist.

The treatment should be completed in full recovery, otherwise there is the likelihood that pathogen again aktiviziruyutsya. But to those drugs that have been used for treatment for the first time, he would be insensitive.

The main risk factors of STD endocervicitis and intrauterine intervention, which should be avoided. It is also necessary to maintain good hygiene of the genital organs and to restrict sex during menstruation. Once in six months to see the gynecologist, even in the absence of visible symptoms. Because the screening tests allow us to determine the endocervicitis of the uterus and other diseases is asymptomatic.
